Prefab modular aluminium alloy structures are the answer to the cumbersome construction process. Aluminium alloys are designed and extruded into smart shapes for fast and easy on-site joining and assembly. Adopting this method also means being a part of the global waste reduction efforts as material is placed only where it is structurally needed and machining is limited to only simple cutting-to-length and hole drilling, all performed using CNC precision machining.
The construction schedule and cost can be reduced by 20–50% if this method is done correctly. The essence of aluminium construction lies in its design by specialists like Aluminium Offshore and builders will only need to complete the Lego-like assembly on-site. The best part? Zero on-site welding.
This aluminium helideck was supplied by Aluminium Offshore 13 years ago for a drillship which is due to be scrapped. However, the aluminium helideck was still in excellent condition owing to aluminium’s corrosion resistance and durability.
Aluminium Offshore team assisted Aban Offshore with the helideck upgrading to comply with the latest UKCAA CAP 437 and ABS regulations, ready to be relocated to one of their new assets. The dismantling and reassembly were a breeze, which could only be possible with Aluminium Offshore’s fully modular helideck design and construction.
